Aji Sugar Drop Orange

Aji Sugar Drop Orange is a unique Capsicum baccatum variety that combines Sugar Rush Peach and Lemon Drop, bringing together two well-known baccatum flavor profiles. The plants are vigorous and highly productive, producing elongated, slightly tapered pods that ripen to a vibrant orange. Mature plants can become quite large, potentially reaching around 6 feet tall and 4 feet wide under favorable growing conditions.

The flavor is the standout feature of this variety. Aji Sugar Drop Orange combines the fruity sweetness of Sugar Rush Peach with the bright citrus character of Lemon Drop, creating a sweet, tropical-citrus flavor followed by a pleasant medium heat. Heat is estimated at approximately 20,000–30,000 SHU, making it noticeably hotter than a jalapeño while remaining very usable in the kitchen.

Aji Sugar Drop Orange is excellent for fresh eating, salsas, sauces, drying, and pepper powders. When dried and ground, the pods produce an especially flavorful powder with a surprisingly sweet, almost candy-like character balanced by citrus notes and moderate heat.

This variety is approaching stability, but some variation in pod shape, size, or other characteristics may still occur from plant to plant.
