The Crimson Jalapeño X is an exciting jalapeño cross that produces large, thick-bodied pods with broad shoulders and a tapered point. The peppers mature to a beautiful deep crimson-red and develop a smooth to lightly wrinkled surface. Compared with a traditional jalapeño, the pods can be noticeably larger and wider, giving them a substantial, meaty appearance.

With an estimated heat range of 2,000–8,000 Scoville Heat Units (SHU), Crimson Jalapeño X delivers a mild to moderately hot burn similar to a traditional jalapeño. Its thick, fleshy walls and classic pepper flavor make it an excellent all-purpose variety for fresh salsa, grilling, roasting, stuffing, pickling, poppers, and homemade sauces.

Because Crimson Jalapeño X is a developing cross between a jalapeño and an unknown pepper variety, some variation in pod shape, size, color, and heat may occur as the genetics continue to stabilize. This makes it an especially interesting variety for growers who enjoy unique and developing pepper crosses.
