Leutschauer Paprika

Leutschauer Paprika – a treasured Hungarian heirloom pepper known for its rich, smoky-sweet flavor and traditional use in fine paprika powder. Originally from the Leutschau region (now Levoča, Slovakia), this variety produces long, slender red pods that ripen to a deep crimson and dry easily on the plant or after harvest. With a mild to moderate heat of around 1,000 to 2,000 Scoville Heat Units (SHU), the Leutschauer Paprika offers just a hint of warmth balanced by bold, earthy sweetness. It’s perfect for drying, grinding, and using in classic Hungarian dishes, rubs, stews, and gourmet spice blends. The plants are sturdy, productive, and ideal for garden beds or containers, reliably producing heavy yields of richly colored pods.
