Point Pleasant Gum Orange (isolated seeds)
A unique selection that evolved from Purplegum-type genetics, Point Pleasant Gum Orange is a distinct variety known for its elongated, tapered pods and “bleeding” calyx trait. This line was stabilized through multiple generations, selecting for strong expression in both color and pod shape, resulting in a pepper that stands apart from its original lineage.
Pods develop with a longer, slightly pointed form and ripen into rich orange tones, often showing the signature bleeding around the stem. Heat levels are estimated around 200,000 Scoville units, delivering a solid, noticeable burn while still allowing some flavor to come through. Compared to similar lines, this variety offers a balanced profile with a slightly sweeter edge in some phenotypes.
